The latest version of the compact luxury SUV provides Baltimore area drivers with a host of redesigns and interior upgrades. If it's a compact, yet luxurious family SUV you're after, the XC40 will be hard to beat.

While the XC40 is more or less unchanged from the previous model year, the latest iteration makes a few notable changes that might be small but can make major changes to the overall vehicle experience.

Changes to the new XC40

Fans of leather rejoice! Catonsville and Westminster drivers that prefer leather interior no longer have to upgrade trim options! Indeed, the new XC40 has traded T-Tec interior trim for leather seating. The XC40 makes a few other standard additions, including power child door locks, heated windshield wipers, and a frameless rearview mirror. Not all the changes come to the base Momentum trim, though. The R-Design trim now includes a panoramic moonroof. The era of the power-folding rear seats has ended for the new XC40, power-folding seats are no longer an option for Baltimore and Catonsville drivers.

Powertrain & Performance

The XC40 provides Ellicott City drivers with two engine options, both being the base 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 base engine. While they're both the safe base engine configuration, they do not have the same power output. The base 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine (T4 front-wheel drive) manages 187 horsepower and 221 foot-pounds of torque. The second 2.00liter turbocharged inline-4 engine produces 248 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque - it also includes standard all-wheel drive.
